The cranberry orange relish is a quick and tasty alternative to cranberry sauce. I like the orange flavor and tend to prefer a tarter version. You may keep adding sugar until it tastes right. Just when it starts slightly sweet I usually stop adding sugar. I usually make 2 days before thanksgiving to let the flavors combine and mellow. Also it’s nice to get this out of the way.
2 packages of cranberries does a lot of relish. You can easily half the recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 package of fresh cranberries
- 2 oranges, zest the skin, peel and remove the white pith, cut into sections
- 3/4 to 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
Steps
Grind in a cuisinart
- pick over the cranberries to remove any bad ones, place in cuisinart
- zest the oranges and add to cuisinart
- remove skin from oranges and cut into sections and small pieces
- mix in cuisinart until ground
- add 1/2 cup of sugar and mix more until sugar is dissolved
- keep adding sugar and tasting until reaches desired taste
- move to a bowl and refrigerate for 2-3 days, it keeps for a while
